On September 5, 2022, Reichman University’s G City Real Estate Institute held one of a series of meetings on the subject of housing prices in Israel. During the meeting, which was held online, a conversation was held between Dr. Efrat Tolkowsky, CEO of the G City Institute, and Motti Weisel, founder and CEO of the strategic research and consulting firm VCELL.
In the meeting, data from the G City Institute's Index of Housing Prices (formerly the Gazit-Globe Institute's Index of Housing Prices) for the second quarter of 2021 were presented, along with demand and supply trends from the Yad2 website, and a discussion was held on the subject of housing prices in Israel. Among the topics discussed were the methodology employed by the G City Institute's Index, the differences between the G City Institute's Index and the Central Bureau of Statistics' housing price index, the volume of transactions used to create the index, trends in housing prices both at the national level and in different regions across Israel, and demand and supply trends for the purchase and rent of homes, as reflected in Yad2’s data.
