The Gazit-Globe Real Estate Institute held a roundtable discussion on the subject "The National Planning and Building Committee for Priority Housing Areas – Looking Ahead"

 


On June 14, 2021, the Gazit-Globe Real Estate Institute at IDC Herzliya held an online roundtable discussion on the subject “The National Planning and Building Committee for Priority Housing Areas – Looking Ahead”. The meeting began with opening remarks by Prof. Amnon Lehavi, dean of the Harry Radzyner Law School and academic director of the Gazit-Globe Real Estate Institute at IDC Herzliya.

 

Afterwards, Edith Bar, chair of the National Planning and Building Committee for Priority Housing Areas, presented the committee’s activities. Later in the meeting, Prof. Lahavi spoke with Edith Bar and Yonatan Dekel, the committee’s deputy planner, about issues relating to these activities, including the relationship between the committee and the local authorities, the reasons for the gaps between the planning of housing units and their implementation, the differences between the planning of housing units by the committee and their planning by independent local committees, and more.

 

Finally, a panel was held on the future of the National Planning and Building Committee for Priority Housing Areas, moderated by Dr. Efrat Tolkowsky, CEO of the Gazit-Globe Real Estate Institute, with the participation of the following speakers: Vered Solomon Maman, chief architect of the Ministry of Construction and Housing; Kobi Naim, engineer of the city of Yavne; and Amir Cohen, engineer and director of the Engineering Division, Southern Sharon Regional Council.
