Corporate Governance Workshop

Organizers: Dr. Moran Ofir and Prof. Roy Shapira

Most of today's business activity is carried out by corporations, especially by large publicly traded companies. The increase in corporate power and impact have made corporate governance issues increasingly important. Corporate governance, after all, dictates the degree to which the company will generate value for its stakeholders, and act in the best interest of society.

Over the past decades, corporate governance issues have crossed the boundaries of academic discourse and now appear more frequently in popular discourse. At the same time, changes in market activity create new challenges and new areas of research in corporate governance. Issues such as executive compensation, mergers and acquisitions, or shareholder activism are reemerging in different formulations, in light of changes in the regulatory, global, and technological environments.

The workshop is meant to expose students to cutting edge research in corporate governance, from various analytical approaches and methodologies. Upon completion of the workshop, the students will be equipped with timely, in-depth, practical knowledge in the field. A secondary goal of the workshop is to create a forum where researchers and practitioners, from Israel and abroad, are able to discuss issues on the legal and public agenda.
