Masterclass – Rakefet Russak Aminoach
Rakefet Russak Aminoach is the former CEO of Leumi bank, and currently is the mananging partner at Team8 Fintech. She launched Pepper, the first mobile only bank in Israel, and is considered a pioneer in her field. Aminoach has multiple degrees in different fields, and believes in the importance of higher education, but also states that it is not the only thing you need in order to succeed. She has always been ambitious and aspires to always keep learning. In her career, she has made cultural shifts to the Israeli society and is an inspiration to women.
I was in awe of Rakefet in this Masterclass. She’s a very impressive woman, sharp, smart, and is always actively seeking knowledge and improvement as well as having a family and an amazing career. Her views remind me of how I was raised. My mother is a strong woman who doesn’t give up on anything and always keeps learning and growing. My father believes strongly in education and always wanted my brothers and I to be great. I was raised to always learn, and that I can do anything I set my mind to, and seeing a strong woman at the top of her field is inspiring. I aspire to always learn and improve because first, it’s fun and second, it’s what can make you great. I really loved that throughout the masterclass Rakefet constantly said that whenever she is faced with a choice she chooses both. I think it’s a great state of mind to have and perhaps I’ll try to adopt it as well.
Rakefet says that she never felt like she was breaking the glass ceiling because she never felt like she was any different than any of her male counterparts. She says to never give up, always keep going. When facing adversities we must always power through in order to succeed. That kind of mindset is what gets you to where you want to. Its like the saying “When the going gets tough, the tough get going”, if you give up as soon as you have some difficulties’ you will never reach success.
I felt like the overarching theme of this masterclass was about how Rakefet does things her own way, wherever she may be. I believe that the best way for women to empower women is through example. By paving her own path and achieving all the things that she has, Rakefet Russak Aminoach is an amazing role model for women and I believe that she will have a huge influence on young women today.
