Lumen: the way to read your inside fuel

With the Adelson School of Entrepreneurship, we had the opportunity to visit Lumen and talk with one of the Co-Founders and the Chief Growth Officer of the company.

Lumen is a device that measures metabolism in real-time and tells users whether they are burning fats or carbs and what they can do about it. It is crazy that a device the size of a chess piece can do so many calculations, believe me, for the founders it was also insane to believe in the idea and make it a reality.

At first, Dror and all the founders were skeptical about the idea. But, to make it happen they sat down and found an answer to all the doubts that passed through their minds. In the end, that is how 8 years ago the Lumen founders managed to start reaching the lives of many and improve their health with the reading of a simple breath.

As we talked with Dror he told us about his entire journey as an entrepreneur. From his beginnings, his setbacks, and getting ahead with what is known today as Lumen. Within his story, I was struck by all the emphasis he made on challenging himself and being resilient along the process. Also, the importance of fostering a winning team where everyone shares a vision and mission. One of the most important things to be aware as an entrepreneur is that you need to surround yourself with dreamers and workers who are curious, ambitious, loyal, and complement your skills.

With the Lumen device, the founders have shown that it is possible to create an experience that fits each consumer and manages to be part of the daily life of users. For this experience to be a whole journey for the customer, Lumen also includes an App that acts as a virtual nutritionist, providing dietary and exercise recommendations based on the user's metabolism.

If we get a little more technical, the device uses a CO2 sensor and flow meter to determine the CO2 concentration in a single breath. This indicates the type of fuel the body is using to produce energy.

Above all, with Lumen, we are one step further towards solving one of the biggest health problems in the world: unhealthy metabolism. Which refers to the combination of obesity, high blood pressure, and elevated blood sugar levels.
