HERZLIYA 2010: The Quest for Leadership, Governance and Strategy.

The 10th Herzliya Conference presented the complexity of multiple challenges facing the leaders of Israel, the Middle East and the international community. Deliberations were focused on the essential qualities of leadership, governance capacities and effective strategies necessary to address the broad array of challenges nested in an uncertain and fluid global environment.
Marking its tenth anniversary, Herzliya 2010 was particularly timely. Taking place as the Obama and Netanyahu administrations mark their first anniversaries and following transitions in key European capitals, Herzliya 2010 examined these administrations’ strategies, policies and relationships. Incorporating cross-cutting perspectives, discussions focused on a broad span of issues ranging from nuclear proliferation and Iran’s regional hegemonic ambitions, to the Middle East Peace Process, the expected recovery from the global financial crisis, and energy security and sustainable resources. The Conference was paid particular attention to Israel’s international standing and its battle for legitimacy from various perspectives, including strategic communications and international law. On the national scene, the Conference was addressing the challenges of governance in the global age.
