Threads of Thought

Arik Afek

Arik, an engineer by profession, began his artistic journey by creating figurative statuettes out of paperclips. With the transition from clips to long wire threads, the way was opened for him to work on the subject he mostly focuses on, the human encounter. This is also the subject of the exhibition in the library.
Afek is an original artist that sculpts and draws with metal wire in two and three dimensions. With just the wire threads Arik succeeds in expressing feelings, creating atmosphere and movement in his works. The wires, usually drawn in a minimalistic single threaded line, become portraits filled with humor and lightness.
