Hochschule der Medien (HdM) is a public university funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg. The university as we know it today was founded through a merger of two universities in 2001. About 5,500 students are enrolled and can choose from a wide range of media-related programs; from printing technology to audiovisual media, information design and media informatics, advertising and media publishing to media management and many more. Hochschule der Medien has three faculties and currently offers about 30 accredited Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs.

The Studierendenwerk Stuttgart owns and maintains several student dorms in Stuttgart, and most of our exchange students usually choose to live at the Filderbahnplatz in Stuttgart-Möhringen or in Esslingen. Both student villages can be easily reached by public transport.

Stuttgart is located in the South of Germany in the state of Baden-Württemberg, with a population of around 635,000 people. It is one of the most preferred student cities in Europe.

 

Stuttgart is a lovely city surrounded by valleys and vineyards, and it has a diverse population coming from all around the world. The city is spread across several hills and the Black Forest, said to have inspired the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm, which is no more than two hours’ drive from the city.


Stuttgart has a student friendly atmosphere which is perfect for meeting new people and cultures. It offers an incredible number of events and due to its central location in Europe, enables you to easily travel to such countries as Switzerland, France, and Austria. Stuttgart is also known for its automobile history where you will find two global companies who have their headquarters here, Porsche and Daimler along with two interesting museums: Mercedes-Benz Museum and the Porsche Museum.
