The University of Cyprus is a public university established by the Republic of Cyprus in 1989. It admitted its first students in 1992 and has approximately 7000 students.
University of Cyprus (UCY) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study.


This 28 years old H.E. institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.
UCY also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, housing, sport facilities and/or activities, study abroad and exchange programs, as well as administrative services.

Accommodation


  • The Housing Office publishes a List of Private Houses/Apartments each academic semester, on a weekly basis, in order to help Erasmus and other Exchange / International students in their search for private accommodation.
  • Accommodation in the student halls is very limited and priority is given to Erasmus and other Exchange / International students registered for a full academic year.
  • Erasmus and other Exchange / International students must submit their room application forms until the 15th of June for the Fall Semester and until the 15th of November for the Spring Semester of each academic year.
  • Student halls - The rent costs €250/person/month including maintenance, water, electricity and heating expenses. A deposit of €200 should be paid prior to arrival, within the deadline.
  • Living expenses in Nicosia can be high. Your own expenditure will depend on your lifestyle and the funds available to you.
  • You should expect to spend more than usual in the first couple of weeks as you establish yourself, but your expenses should soon settle down, allowing you to manage your monthly budget carefully.

Location & Facilities


  • Nicosia is the island's largest city; it has retained its historical character in the preserved and renovated "Old City" center, located within the Venetian walls. These city walls, which separate the old town from the new, testify to Cyprus's long history of domination by foreign rulers. Nicosia is a modern commercial center, with a rich cultural and social and athletic life. A selection of theatres, cinemas, night clubs, restaurants and athletic centers enrich the visitor's stay.
  • Nicosia is the administrative, cultural, educational and religious center of the country, and is also geographically at the center of the island. Economic service (group) taxis and bus routes operate between all main cities.
