Yuli Ofer z"l
A giant in the world of industry, Yuli Ofer z"l is known as a visionary for his pioneering investments in Eastern and Central Europe. Born in Romania, Yuli Ofer z"l and his brother Sami Ofer followed their father into the trade industry, and the two brothers joined forces in 1957 to create the Ofer Brothers Group, a dynamic and diverse cluster of companies at the forefront of Israel’s economy and one of the country’s largest privately-held economic groups. The Ofer Brothers Group owns Israel’s largest privatelyowned shipping fleet and has become an important force in Israel’s banking scene by acquiring a controlling interest in United Mizrahi Bank Ltd., Israel’s fourth-largest commercial bank.
Having invested in shopping malls and prestigious residential projects in his native Romania and in Hungary, Yuli Ofer’s passion for the real estate and hospitality industries led to the founding of Ofer Properties, with flagship projects that include the Merkazim centers, a range of shopping centers both in Israel and abroad, and several international land development projects.
Ofer Properties is also part owner and developer of the Herzliya and Ashkelon marinas, which will place Israel on the map of the international yachting community through their docking services and shore facilities.
Today he is an active president and the main shareholder of CEE - Central European Estates B.V. – which is active in all the countries formerly under the Iron Curtain.
