Reichman University congratulates Prof. Aharon Barak on becoming a Fellow of the British Academy

Prof. Aharon Barak of the Harry Radzyner Law School has been elected as a Fellow of the British Academy. Prof. Barak is one of 86 distinguished international researchers in the humanities and social sciences who were selected to be members of the Academy in 2023. The newly elected Fellows represent a diverse range of specializations across the arts, humanities, and social sciences.

Prof. Barak has been a senior faculty member of Reichman University’s Radzyner Law School since 2007. He serves as Chairman of the Doctoral Committee and as a member of the Higher Appointments Committee. Prof. Barak served as President of the Supreme Court (1995-2006), Attorney-General (1975-1978) and Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. From 1970 to 1972, he taught at the New York University Law School, and during this period he also contributed, at the invitation of the United Nations, to the preparation of an international treaty on bills of exchange. He served as the chairman of several public commissions, including the Public Commissions for the New Law on Government Corporations, for Credit Cards, for the Law of Corporations, and for the Codification of Civil Law. Prof. Barak has authored numerous books and articles on legal matters, and has won prestigious awards such as the Israel Prize for Law and the Zeltner Prize. He is a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities and was elected as an honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Prof. Barak holds honorary doctorates from many institutions of higher education in Israel and around the world.
