Accommodations and Accessibility due to Medical Disabilities

Reichman University assists students with physical disabilities, sensory disabilities, or chronic diseases that affect the students’ academic functioning.

  • Accommodations are granted based on the expert opinion of specialist doctors. The opinion must include the illness / disability’s impact on the student’s academic functioning. It must also include relevant and current medical history. Detailed instructions can be found on the Accommodation Request Form. Only medical documentation in Hebrew or English will be accepted.

  • Reichman University grants accommodations providing they do not substantively change the nature of the exam, the scope of material and the nature of the requirement from those taking the exam. The decision about the accommodations provided will be given to the University.
  • please note: Request for accommodations on medical grounds must be submitted by the first day of the academic year, and during the year until the first day of each semester.
  • The Accessibility Center makes every effort to respond to the students seeking its services in a professional and devoted manner. Having said this, the Center cannot guarantee response to applications that are submitted late.

Appealing a Decision about Accommodations due to Medical Disability

  • The appeal of the decision regarding accommodations will be discussed in the Appeals Committee that operates on behalf of the University. Members of the Committee include a representative of the Dean of Student Affairs Office, a representative of the Accessibility Center and another representative of Reichman University.
  • Students can appeal any decision regarding accommodations within 15 days from the date the message was sent to their Reichman University email address. The appeal should be well-reasoned and well-established.
  • The Appeal Form can be found on MY RU under the Accessibility icon.
  • Students who want to appear before the Appeals Committee should note this on the form and will do so at a time and place determined by the Committee. Students may bring another person with them to the appeals discussion and must note this on the Appeal Form. Notification regarding the date of appearance before the committee will be sent to the student via email. If the student does not show up, the decision will be made in their absence.
  • Please note – In its discussions of the appeal the Committee may re-examine all the accommodations given to the student and decide on other accommodations and/or cancel accommodations given.
  • Whether the appeal is accepted or rejected, the Committee’s decision and reasoning will be sent to the student and will be final. The decision will be sent via email within 30 days of the date the appeal was submitted.
