Argov Fellows must possess the intellectual capacity and commitment necessary for the demanding curriculum and challenging assignments required during the Argov Fellowship year. Thus, potential applicants are expected to have demonstrated both academic success in their studies at Reichman University and the ability to synthesize and utilize the knowledge they have acquired. Grades are not the only factor in determining an applicant’s suitability for the Argov Program. Evidence of an applicant’s enthusiasm for learning and openness to develop personally and professionally is also taken into consideration. It is important that Argov Fellows contribute to ongoing dialogue with fellow students, professors and the numerous guest lecturers whom they meet throughout the year. Thus, a passion for learning and a commitment to striving for excellence characterize all accepted Argov Fellows.
Israel and the Jewish world face numerous challenges, including the questioning of the state's very right to exist. It is not enough that Argov Fellows proclaim their commitment to the future of Israel and the Jewish people. We expect applicants to already have demonstrated this commitment through action. Past Argov Fellows have served as IDF officers, immigrated to Israel, worked in the public sector, been active in youth movements and contributed to the well-being of their communities through volunteer work amongst other activities. Whether the Fellows decide to embark on careers in the private, public or non-profit sectors, we seek individuals who share a common dedication and commitment to addressing the challenges facing Israel and the Jewish people.
To understand how you will contribute to and benefit from the Argov Program, your application essays should convey your passions, hopes and aspirations, reflecting who you are, what you believe in, and what you hope to do. The application process also includes several stages of individual and group interviews as well as the checking of personal references. Each Argov Fellow is a unique individual who helps to contribute to the program as a Fellow and as an alumnus for years to come. Thus, it is important that Argov Fellows have strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
