Criminal Practicum and Litigation in cooperation with the Prosecution Division of Israel Police

The Prosecution Division of Israel Police is a national unit that attends to 90% of the criminal cases in Israel. The Prosecution Division employs 370 prosecutors, who deal with a wide range of criminal offenses affecting citizens’ life such as: violence, threats, crimes against public officials, property and drug offenses, etc.

As part of the practicum, students will be given a unique opportunity to learn about the Prosecution Division’s work and will be exposed to the various stages of a criminal proceeding such as reviewing investigation’s materials, deciding on prosecuting a case or closing it, arresting proceedings.

The program is based on a practical-legal tier and an academic-theoretical one:

As part of their practical training, students will be assigned mentors from among the Prosecution Division and will assist them in their daily work.

As part of their theoretical training, students will listen to lectures on legal issues that are at the core of the police prosecution’s work, such as about investigation procedures, evidence collection, arrest procedures, criminal procedure rules in court and more. Students will also be preparing and drafting indictments.

In addition, students will have three academic tours that will include a visit to the police forensics lab, the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court and will visit a police station in Tel Aviv.

This program caters to second and third-year students. Admission is based on a personal interview.

The practicum awards students six semester hours, and comprises 50 annual hours of academic training, as well as three tours.
