About the Institute for Policy & Strategy (IPS)

Reichman University’s Institute for Policy & Strategy is home to the Herzliya Conference, and was established 23 years ago with the aim of serving as a knowledge hub, thinktank and discussion platform on Israel’s national strategic issues. The institute strives to promote a deep understanding of regional processes by analyzing and assessing the geostrategic trends shaping the Middle East, presenting an up-to-date situation report, identifying opportunities and risks, while issuing policy insights and recommendations to decisionmakers and policymakers in Israel and worldwide. The institute further aims to spur and impact public discourse via its conferences, publications, and media engagement in various media outlets and platforms.

 

 

Internship at the Institute for Policy & Strategy (IPS)

The Institute for Policy & Strategy offers students at the Lauder School of Government the opportunity to become part of it in an internship that allows students to deepen their knowledge and analyzing capabilities in the areas studied at the institute. The internship is worth 2 credit points.

 

 

The main areas of internship for 2023/2024 are:

  • The strategic US-Israel alliance – Political, bilateral, and regional implications
  • Israel’s national and social resilience as a fundamental element of its national security

 

 

More information on the internship:

  • The internship is offered to third year or MA students.
  • Interns are mentored by an IPS researcher in accordance with the area chosen and program established.
  • The internship duration is a minimum of 6 weekly hours over one semester (the internship will take place during the second semester / may be spread over both semesters in coordination with the mentoring researcher).
  • At the end of the internship, the intern will submit an assignment / position paper / other form of written product compiled during the internship. The assignment will be given a passing grade by the IPS.
  • After the internship has been completed, as have all duties required, the intern will be awarded 2 academic credit points.
  • IPS interns will be offered the opportunity to take part and assist in the Herzliya Conference.

 

 

Internship Candidacy and Admission Process

  1. IPS internship candidates will send an email to the institute containing their CVs and a short paragraph explaining why they wish to be considered for the internship, as well as the area (out of the two specified above) in which they wish to specialize. The email should be sent to ips2@runi.ac.il by Wednesday, 31 January 2024.
  2. Suitable candidates will be interviewed by an IPS member of staff. Following the interview, a decision will be made as to admission to the program, the research area, and required framework.
  3. Unfortunately, the number of available openings for an IPS internship is limited, only suitable candidates will be answered.
