Shelfie

Shelfie is an app that helps small business owners in the food industry to save money and reduce waste

What is it?

Shelfie is an app that helps small business owners in the food industry to save money and reduce waste. We found that business owners often find themselves throwing away a lot of food that goes bad due to poor inventory management. Shelfie connects to existing inventory management systems and adds an extra layer of information to help the business owner manage their inventory more effectively. By reflecting and providing a clear view of the inventory status, prioritizing products based on expiration dates, and offering accurate alerts and recommendations on how to handle the supply, the business owner can make better decisions in real-time. Additionally, the app continuously presents new AI-based recipes according to products with short shelf lives and learns user habits over time.

How does it work?

When the business owner places products in the inventory,, the system identifies the product, quantity, and value, and inputs this data into the app. The app continuously reflects the status of the supply to the owner and sends alerts when an item is about to expire. When the owner accesses the app, they can choose how to view the data (by the highest potential money loss or by remaining shelf life). The app then provides usage ideas for the product, such as, AI-generated recipes based on pantry items, or optimization suggestions and promotions from their existing menu. The owner can refer back to the recipe at any time until the dish is marked as completed. At any given moment, the owner can see an analytical overview of their inventory management to save money and practice smart consumerism.
