Stockholm University, located in Sweden's capital city, is the regions center for higher education and research in humanities, law, the natural and social sciences, and a focus for the work of leading international researchers. In the heart of Sweden's only national urban park, the University is surrounded by natural beauty, whilst being only a few minutes journey from the city center.


Students whose mother tongue is not English must provide evidence that their English language ability meets the minimum requirements for admission. Students from the Nordic countries do not need to take a test. IELTS: 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in each of the four components, TOEFL: PBT 550, iBT 79. Please notice that no results from TOEFL ITP tests will be accepted.

Accommodation & Visa:


  • Stockholm University does not own any student dormitories and does not normally organize accommodation for students.
  • As a special service, Stockholm University tries to assist students from partner universities with accommodation.
  • This does not guarantee that the University can provide housing for all exchange students. The application for housing is included in the acceptance package.
  • Monthly costs:
    Rent: €400 per month

    Misc.: €230
  • Total: Approx € 1000 per month (around 8-9000 SEK)

 

  • Starting November 1, 2022, the Swedish Migration Agency started a new procedure for stricter checks of passports in connection with application for a residence permit. All applicants for a resident permit, including exchange students, must show their passport at an in-person visit before the Swedish Migration Agency can make a decision.
