Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU) is one of the younger higher education institutions in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (in Germany) founded in 1965. It regards itself as a "citizens' university" and an interdisciplinary-focused, networked and comprehensive university. Over 35,000 students are currently enrolled in the 5 faculties at the university, with more than 3,800 of which coming from abroad.


As a campus university where everything is close together, all buildings including the University Hospital and the specialized libraries are easily accessible. The university departments enjoy an excellent reputation due to an exceptionally high number of collaborative research centers. Location


Düsseldorf is a city in western Germany known for its fashion industry and art scene. It is divided by the Rhine River, with its Altstadt (Old Town) on the east bank and modern commercial areas to the west. It is the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia with a population of 635,000 and one of Europe’s leading economic centers. Other cities in North Rhine-Westphalia like Köln, Bochum, Aachen etc. are easily accessible by public transport.
