Fulda University of Applied Sciences is a practice-oriented university with an international profile. The special focus on applied research includes the independent right to confer the doctorate.

Founded in 1974, the university encompasses, at present, eight departments with 55 study programs, approx.


8,300 students and almost 1,100 international students from more than 100 countries, 170 professors, 125 academics and research staff, plus 250 administrative staff.

Accommodation


  • The International Office can help you find rented accommodation at special terms and conditions – in publicly owned halls of residence or private apartments.
  • Publicly owned halls of residence are fully furnished and equipped with bed linen, towels, cooking utensils and cutlery, etc. Studierendenwerk Gießen currently runs six public halls of residence in Fulda. If you are interested in the public halls, it is recommended you apply for them as soon as possible (after you are formally accepted) as the waiting time can be several months. Therefore apply for the halls before July 31st and after applying, please e-mail Hanna Gurjanowa letting her know you have submitted your housing application.

  • In recent years, rent in Germany has risen; a student will need a budget of at least €410 per month. To cover the cost of living while you are studying in Fulda, you should expect to spend €650 - 860 a month. This amount includes accommodation, food, health insurance and transport costs. Of course, your outgoings will ultimately depend on your personal preferences and standard of living.
  • Please bear in mind that you will have to cover some extra costs in the first month after you arrive, including deposits and registration fees (approx €500 extra).

Location & Facilities


  • A historic city founded in the year 744, Fulda today has a population of 65,000. Fulda‘s baroque ¬quarter is one of the most beautiful in Germany and attracts visitors from all over the world.
  • Fulda enjoys ideal transport connections. One of Europe‘s principal international airports, Frankfurt Rhine-Main, is just over an hour away by car or train. Other major cities in Germany, such as Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg or Munich, are within easy reach and no more than three hours away by train.
  • Fulda University's pleasant campus has plenty of wide-open, green spaces. It is where history meets modernity: some of the attractive buildings date back to the 19th century, while other more modern ones were built fairly recently.
