Founded in 1956, Sciences Po Aix is one of the nine Political Studies Institutes in France, specializing in political, legal and economical dimensions of governance with a strong international and European focus. It is he only one situated on the Mediterranean coast. Science Po Aix is a ‘Grande Ecole’ in the university and combines a culture of excellence and multidisciplinary ambition, resolutely pointing towards firms, high-ranking civil service (entrance exams) and research.


The institute is a public teaching and research university whose aim is to form future senior executives in public, semi-public, and private sectors. The multi-disciplinary programs it offers attracts students from around the world. Courses take place at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques of Aix-en-Provence, in a 17th century building, on the "Place de l'Universite" facing St Sauveur Cathedral in the heart of the historical city.
Students are required to have working knowledge of French in order to study at this institution.

  • On-campus housing is available, Students should apply for university halls of residence through the Department of International Relations of Sciences Po by filling out and returning the “bulletin de réservation de chambre en Cité Universitaire” before May 15 (fall semester/year ) or October 15 (spring semester).
  • Chambre Simple: 155€ approximately. 12m², kitchen and bathroom are shared with others students on the same floor.
  • Chambre Rénovée: 240€ approximately. 12m², private bathroom and kitchen.
  • Rented room ranges from €350-450 per month per person.
    Studio apartments range from €500-600 per month.

  • Aix-en-Provence is a city of about 150,000 people in southeastern France. As the former capital of the Kingdom of Provence and a former Roman city, Aix features remnants from Roman and Medieval times.
  • For centuries, Aix-en-Provence has been famous for art, music festivals, fountains, and a pleasant climate. Encounter a variety of open-air markets and enjoy wandering down the tree-lined Cours Mirabeau with its many cafes and shops.
  • Cezanne's paintings immortalize the beautiful countryside of this region. While small enough that students can walk anywhere and not get lost in the shuffle, Aix offers plenty to explore and is located only a short distance from Marseille and the Cote d'Azur.
