Syracuse University founded in 1870 is a private research institution of 13 schools and colleges in Syracuse, New York, located one hour by plane from New York City and one hour by plane from Washington, D.C. Our diverse student body includes thousands of international degree students. At the Newhouse School of Public Communications, we’re training the next generation of communications leaders—professionals who are prepared not only to enter a rapidly-changing media industry, but also to shape its future.

 

There are nearly 22,000 students from all over the world taking part in clubs, athletics and gatherings of all kinds. With over 300 student organizations, you'll have plenty of opportunities to explore interests, pursue passions and engage with the Syracuse University community.

Location & Facilities


Syracuse University is located in the heart of New York State, resting atop a hill overlooking the City of Syracuse. The sprawling campus is just a short walk, drive or bus ride away from downtown. Syracuse is the fifth-largest city in the State of New York, offering the cultural and business advantages of a midsize city surrounded by expanses of open space and wilderness.

 

There are many ways to get out and explore Syracuse. Many spots popular with students—including parks, restaurants and shops—are just a short walk or bike ride away from campus.
