About

Note: Please pay attention to the various university expenses required at US institutions. It is your responsibility to look into the specific fees and ensure you are able to cover them prior to your application.

  • Founded in 1836, Emory University is a private research university located in Atlanta, GA. The university is home to around 7,400 undergraduates and 6,400 graduate students (of which around 2000 are Jewish).
  • The Goizuetta Business School, named after Robert Goizuetta, former president of the Coca-Cola company, is one of the highest ranked business schools in the US, currently ranked 5th in the nation for best undergraduate programs in business education (Businessweek, 2012).
  • Hillel (www.emoryhillel.org) has shabbat services every Friday and dinners about once per month.
  • They also have a Chabad on campus. Hillel also hosts monthly roundtable discussions called "Jbiz" where students can meet top Jewish leaders and have personal discussions with them.

Health Insurance

  • All international and exchange students at Emory are required to have health insurance coverage during their exchange semester(s).
  • Students are automatically signed up and charged for the Emory student health insurance, unless they prove adequate coverage from home and complete the insurance waiver form.
  • If you wish to accept the Emory University insurance plan, simply pay for it along with the rest of your student fees. If you do not want to accept the Emory insurance, you may waive the university plan with no charges or fees until the first week of classes. Please read the health insurance requirements so you know what standards an alternative plan must meet.
  • Once you have selected an alternative, complete the waiver request online through OPUS. The insurance cost will be removed from your student account a few days later.

Accommodation

  • BBA International Programs will organize housing and furniture rental (if applicable) for interested students. Given the difficulty of finding short‐term housing close enough to campus to walk, or use Atlanta’s limited public transportation system, it is strongly urged that students accept this offer. When they complete the online application, students are given a choice of selecting to find their own housing or of having our office arrange for their housing.
  • They will have a chance to indicate price and accommodation preference if they select to have us arrange for their housing. Arrangements and assignments will be made upon receipt of students’ application materials.

Location & Facilities

  • Emory's campus is located in the Druid Hills neighborhood of Atlanta, which is home to more than five million people and a diversity of cultural, social, entertainment, shopping and recreational options.
  • 10 Fortune 500 companies are based in the city, including Coca-Cola Co., Delta Airlines, and UPS Shipping Services. The American-Israeli Chamber of Commerce is also located in Atlanta.
