Research and Teaching Expertise

  • Chaviva is an environmental lawyer with extensive legal experience, in the civil service and in non-governmental organizations, including legal counsel and litigation.Her LLB is from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and she holds an LLM in environmental law from the De Montfort University, Leicester, UK, where she completed her thesis in Planning Law.

    She is committed to environmental and sustainability issues on both local and international levels, is active in various NGOs, and partner to developing planning and conservation strategies.

    Lectures in academic and non-academic frameworks on urbanism, conservation and sustainability, on civic activism, and on the law as a tool for environmental activists, and previously taught courses in sustainable building and planning law.

    Having a practical background gives the students the best of both worlds, as they gain not only knowledge of the theory of environmental law but also of its application.
