Shlomo Dovrat

 


A leading business figure in the Israeli high-tech industry for over 20 years, Shlomo Dovrat has been active in philanthropic activities throughout his career. He has also played a key role in advancing the State of Israel's educational system, promoting educational projects throughout Israel as a founder of the Israeli Venture Network and as Chairman of the National Task Force for the Advancement of the Educational System.


After serving in an elite technology unit within the Israeli Defense Forces, Shlomo Dovrat began his career as a high-tech entrepreneur. eventually becoming CEO and Chairman of several leading high-tech companies. At the age of 23, he co-founded Oshap as CEO and President. Three years later he led the company to its IPO on NASDAQ, and later transformed Oshap into an active software investment company. Shlomo Dovrat was also the founder of Tecnomatix and served as its CEO and President for fifteen years, leading its IPO on NASDAQ and serving first as Chairman and then Director.


Shlomo Dovrat is one of the Co-founders of Viola Partners, a leading innovative private equity investment group focused on technology-based-growth opportunities in Israel that was founded in 1999. He Is also a Co-founder and General Partner in Carmel Ventures, one of Israel's leading venture capital funds focused on Information Technology with $372 MM under management. He serves as Chairman, of ECI Telecom (NASDAQ: ECIL), and as Board Member in several young technology companies backed by Carmel Ventures.


Appointed Chairman of the National Task Force for the Advancement of the Educational System, Shlomo Dovrat led the Israeli government's task force to create a comprehensive plan of Israel's educational system. The ensuing "Dovrat Report" was adopted by the government of Israel and serves today as a model and inspiration for Israel's educational system.


Shlomo Dovrat's contributions have earned him numerous awards, among them the Israeli Hi-Tech Award and Tel Aviv University's Dr. Jaime Constantiner Prize in Jewish Education.


In recognition of his outstanding contribution to Israeli education, the future of the State of Israel and the Jewish People, and Reichman University, Shlomo Dovrat is hereby named an Honorary Fellow of Reichman University.
